V-Drive Components - Stuffing Boxes

New design 1” cavation rod seal (fits standard 1” inside diameter hoses).

These rod seals are made to fit 1/2" diameter cavation rods. Made from 6061-T6 Alum. They have 2 double lip cup seals with a gap in between them for grease. A snap ring on the front for containment and safety. The water side is an o-ring for a total of 3 water seals.

Prop Shaft Seal Box 1"

Made from 6061-T6 aluminum with a machined finish. They are approximately 2 1/2" diameter by 2 1/2" long. There is a lightly pressed in 2" dia. double sealed bearing with the inside diameter bored to 1.003" (to easily slip over your prop shaft). It’s held in the aluminum housing by a snap ring for safety.

Also inside the aluminum housing is a double lip cup seal to keep the water out and a grease zert on the outside body to grease the seal. A standard size 1 3/4" hose fits from the rear. Rounded grooves have been added to help the hose clamp bite into the housing and not slip off.

With this design there will be no more prop shaft wear of bushings to replace because it rides on a bearing.

Prop Shaft Seal Box 1-1/8"

Made from 6061-T6 aluminum with a machined finish. The prop shaft seal is approximately 3" diameter by 2 7/8" long. There is a lightly pressed in 2 1/2" dia. double sealed bearing with the inside diameter bored to 1.128" (to easily slip over your prop shaft). It’s held in the aluminum housing by a snap ring for safety.

Inside the aluminum housing is a double lip cup seal to keep the water out and a grease zert on the outside body to grease the seal. A standard size 1 3/4" hose fits from the rear. Rounded grooves have been added to help the hose clamp bite into the housing and not slip off.

This new rudder stuffing box has a standard 4 1/16” round mounting flange. So it is a direct replacement for your older style stuffing box. No mounting holes have been drilled, because every hull is different and has a variety of hole sizes and patterns. All you have to do is transfer punch the existing hole locations in your hull to the rudder box and drill the size you need.

Fits all standard 1 1/2” diameter thru hull holes. The 1 1/2” diameter section, that goes thru the bottom of your hull long (1 3/4” long), was left to accommodate any hull thickness. You will have to trim to fit.

Overall height of stuffing box inside the boat is 2 1/8”.

Starting from the top of the stuffing box to the bottom features a snap ring for safety to help retain the 1” sealed bearing that is bored a few thousands larger than your rudder shaft.

Next is an ample sized grease reservoir which is filled by the grease zert located on the outside of the rudder box housing.

A double lip grease cup seal is lightly pressed in as a second barrier to keep water out. The first water barrier is a 1/8” diameter o-ring that is below the grease cup seal.

Double Seal Prop Shaft Stuffing Box (For 1" Shafts Only)

This stuffing box incorporates double neoprene seals. Water may be discharged into the stuffing box, further lubricating the aqua lube bearing insert.  For 1" shafts only.
