With decades devoted to marine exhaust technology Hardin Marine knows a HIGH horsepower muffler does not work by restricting flow. There is a balance between noise reduction and horse power retention. The HCX series mufflers tuned free-flow unrestricted design along their with strategically placed louvers reamlines your boats exhaust flow reducing back pressure while also adding a level of sound deadening and providing up to 8 decibels (8" version) of noise reduction and an incomparable deep, rich sound.
In order to offer maximum exhaust flow in its most basic sense and for the muffler to reduce noise, it must separate that noise (sound waves), by separating the peaks and valleys produced by the exhaust note. These sound waves are then absorbed throughout the length of the muffler, the harsh (Loud) noise notes can be some what neutralized through this technology this is exactly how the HCX series muffler achieves this.
These mufflers provide the long awaited option to the numerous 750+ horse powered boats that longed for a muffler option that wouldn’t rob them of their available horse power and that could also be easily installed and removed for various boating environments. The lightweight design is perfect for dry tailpipe applications but they can also be used in wet pipe applications. Common applications are high horsepower, supercharged or normally aspirated engines. Each muffler is precision TIG welded utilizing all stainless steel construction. The mufflers are a standard 8" length with a 4-1/4" O.D. They are easily removable with just 1
hex screw (no special tool needed, just a standard size allen wrench)
